Poem 294: Sports and America

The last weekend of the summer and then we enter fall

Sitting in front of the TV watching “Blue Jays” baseball

The NFL has started and my “Bills” already have three wins

On October 7th the NHL season begins

The OHL started yesterday and our “Troops” won game number one

Just another 67 games and their season will be done

The “Jays” are still in the first inning

They are down 7-1, what are their chances of winning?

Looks like being a late night talk show host is a dying profession

Making jokes about “Trump” is now a major transgression

It seems he is taking everything personal and just can’t take a joke

Maybe he doesn’t like the news claiming that he is going to “croak”?

He is certainly doing wonders as the “President” of the “United States”

If you ask him or his fellow “Republicans”, he is doing great

“Don’t do as I do, do as I say” is the credo he is living by

To all of his “MAGA” followers he is a special guy

Many news outlets claiming he is a dictator wanna be

Looks like “mission accomplished” from what I can see

I don’t know how they stop him in this pursuit

He does what he wants and is backed by men who have all the loot

He is getting richer everyday making money on the side

Not even one year in office, the “Americans” are in for quite a ride

His popularity is at an all time low but his party has his back

They all still kiss his ass when he is under attack

The nations of the world can’t believe what’s happening in the “United States”

With “Donald” running the show they have sealed their fate

The “Republicans” are digging a hole they may never get out

Even most of us “Canadians” have decided to take a different route

We can’t believe what is happening to our neighbours who stopped free trade

Expecting all of us to honour them with tariffs to be paid

I’ve never seen “American” government is such disorder

Then they wonder why most of us “Canucks” are refusing to cross the border
