So are you sold on this sports experiment that’s under way?

We now have a choice of sports that we can watch everyday

So far hockey and basketball are looking good under their bubbles

However, major league baseball is having their share of troubles

Players on the Cardinals and the Marlins have tested positive and the season is in doubt

That’s two strikes against them: one more team and they’re out?

The CFL has chosen Winnipeg as its hub city, should it return in the fall

Chances are Canadian Football will not have a season at all

The NFL is a whole other case

Their players are testing positive all over the place

Lots of these athletes are bowing out for this reason

Who knows how many stars will play if they do start the season?

All the NHL players are safe and there are no cases to report

I hope this trend will continue and the season doesn’t fall short

I like the format they are using to get into the playoff run

If they would have left things as they were, my team would have been done

My Blackhawks would have been out of it , they finished in twelfth place

Now they get to play a best out of five to enter the playoff race

Their last appearance in the playoffs, they lost in four straight

They’ve won their first game, which really is great

Are they in a position to topple the Edmonton Oilers?

Now this is just the first game, are they going to be spoilers?

With Connor McDavid as the Captain, this team is never out of the game

It’s nice to know the Hawks have won one, just the same

This means at least in this series they will not be shut out

The fact that they are competitive is what it’s all about

There is so much hockey to be played before they call it a year

Here’s hoping that every player continues to play and is able to stay in the clear

Every major sports organization will have their share of wins and defeats

When it comes to reality, it’s the Covid-19 Virus that we all have to beat

“You can’t fix stupid” is a phrase that comes to mind

This can be applied to many politicians: They really aren’t that hard to find

They used to be so vigilant on what they do or say

Now we are able to watch these total screwups each and every day

Thanks to social media, we get to catch them in the act

This in turn gets forwarded to millions before they are able to react

This gives us a reality check by seeing who’s really wrong or right

And it gives us further evidence, that most of them aren’t that bright

Why would the Governor of Georgia sue the Mayor of Atlanta one would have to ask?

Because her worship mandated her constituents all to wear a mask

To me it seems that it makes common sense to protect her people there

Kemp, in public, wears a mask, so obviously he’s aware

You see the President is working behind the scenes and pulling all the strings

Keisha Lance Bottoms is a Democrat which is not Trump’s favourite thing

There were other cities in the state that implemented this, weeks before

You see they don’t have a woman in charge which aggravates this leader even more

Then you go take a look at Florida and Ron DeSantis is the man

You thought you couldn’t find anyone more dopey? Hold on, yes you can!

This is the brainiac who let the state run free

Then he rubbed it in everyone’s face for the whole world to see

Now some weeks later, his territory has the most pandemic cases nation wide

Seems like the Governor chose to lay low and find a place to hide

Recently, he reemerged and showed how intelligent he could really be

By uttering a response for everybody live and on tv

This statement was so ridiculous and there’s no way he can escape

He basically stated that gym members can’t catch the virus because they are in such great shape

These are just a few examples of the men who run the show

Throw the President in with these two, you have Larry, Curly and Moe

These are just three of the stooges that are running the United States

The rest of them aren’t much brighter by just sitting around in wait

Meanwhile so many innocent people are dying each and every day

This POTUS has no empathy and there is no hope in him leading the way

The rest of his party are accomplices and criminals at large

It’s time to stop this comedy of errors and finally put someone in charge

The story begins almost six years ago on an October morn

I was on a site on the internet our neighbour called “puppy porn”

The ones that have the young doggies for sale and have their pictures on display

We were both able to avoid all these temptations until this particular day

It had now been two years since we had to put our old dog “Stan” to rest

He was such a loyal dog and to so many people, he was just the best

But after dog sitting for some friends just the week before

We both seemed to get the itch and couldn’t hold out anymore

That morning we saw the pictures and both agreed on that special one

Then we both hopped in the car and our new journey had begun

Before we reached our destination, we decided one puppy would never do

When we finally arrived, we decided we’d bring home two

We picked out a pair of puppies and had an overnight stay

The plan was to stay in this hotel and pick them up the next day

The owner’s words disturbed us and truly made us frown

When he said “he was getting rid of the mother or going to put her down”

This statement really bothered us and we stewed on it all night

The fact that he was going to get rid of the mother we didn’t feel was right

So the next morning we did take home two dogs, the mother and a son

I can still picture them running around the yard, they always seemed to have so much fun

Six years have now come and gone and these two have never been apart

Yesterday we had to put Mother “Molly” down, it truly broke our hearts

We took the puppy with us so he could say goodbye

He was there to witness her passing as we all petted her and cried

He was nose to nose with her when she met her end

Now we are left to mourn but still have one furry friend

How he will react to this separation? In the next few days we’ll know

This is an experience this dog as a puppy should have experienced years ago

He has no idea how lucky he has been to have been with his mother all these years

The thought of them being unconnected brings us all to tears

So goodbye Molly, we will miss you and take care of your little one

Hope you are now free to roam and are finally able to run

Fate was the reason that you were initially attracted to my wife

This enabled all of us to hopefully give you a better life

With all these words I’ve written I hope that they will convey

We are going to miss you “Molly Girl” each and every day

Has the carona virus still got you stuck at home and feeling bound?

Want to visit all your friends but they still can’t come around?

Maybe you miss them so much and a you feel a simple call is not enough?

Missing all the members of your family and really feeling rough?

This is the scenario that appears in most people’s heads

What if the thoughts you have take a one hundred and eighty degree turn instead?

What if you are a confirmed introvert and you’re finding the times aren’t so rough?

What if you are relishing all this social distancing and still can’t get enough?

What if you are enjoying all this isolation and are basking in the glory?

You’re not required to visit friends and family and don’t feel the least bit sorry?

What if you like the fact that people aren’t just dropping in to say hello?

That you haven’t had to count down the minutes until they had to go

What if you don’t like the fact that social distancing is just six feet?

What if you just wanted to avoid all these people and just choose to cross the street?

Maybe in your situation, as family goes, you don’t rate in the top dozen?

You might have made the list, but you got edged out by a cousin

What if the fact that expanding your social circle you are dead against?

What if you like the fact you can pick who you want and the hell with all the rest?

What if you wished someone in power, we all know this guy

Would get infected by this disease as a lesson but didn’t want him to die?

What if you like the fact you can purchase all your items without even having to open a door?

Get all your packages loaded when you park in front of the store

What if you like the fact you don’t have to rush to clean your mess?

You know that no one is going to drop in so there is no need to stress

What if you like the fact that you have no schedule that usually gets in the way?

What you didn’t accomplish you can try to do the next day

What if you like the fact that this has been going on for a while?

What if you like the fact that this could become everyone’s lifestyle?

What if your tv viewing includes Prime, Netflix and Crave?

This just shows you’re prepared in case there’s a second wave

What if you are watching the news like you never did before?

Following all the same stories all day long and still thirst for more?

What if I ran out of “what ifs” and all the words that I find to rhyme?

Would you think that reading this poem was a complete waste of your time?

So hats off to all us introverts who seem to be handling this crisis better than most

As you know we don’t like a crowd and seldom do we get a chance to boast

Our advice to all you extroverts is to try and relax and do your best to chill

Hope you get through this ordeal safely, I know my group certainly will

July fourth is Independence Day in America each and every year

But Trump, in all his glory decided July third would be the day he would appear

The Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota was the place he chose to be

Start the night with his divisive speech and then fireworks for all to see

Mount Rushmore National Memorial would be the backdrop for his talk

Seems so fitting because like the four Presidents behind him, his head is also made of rock

Ignoring all the warnings of this virus, he packed the people in

The so called “left wing mob of protestors” was his topic to begin

An executive order for a “National Garden Of Heroes” to be built made his biased crowd roar

Basically it would be a theme park commemorating the racists and the traitors of the civil war

He is still more concerned about these statues than the lives that are being lost

He is going to keep his home base happy, no matter what the cost

Imagine these people believing that he could make this all come true

The promise of a Mexican paid border wall was something he never managed to do

He wants a ten year minimum sentence for all the protestors who made these statues fall

I guess his plan is to go around the whole country and try to convict them all

Meanwhile the policeman who actually killed and tortured, he holds in high regard

He has no empathy for the lives that were taken and all the families that were scarred

Getting back to his executive order for this “so called” garden he named

We can collect all these statues in one place where they all can be ashamed

If you are in favour of this park, please write them out a cheque

But heed the words of warning:  “You Might Be A Redneck”

I think it only fitting that some statue of Donald should be there as well

To all of his worshippers, he’s a hero, put it up, what the hell

Let him pick the wall to surround this park and let him have his way

Make it a shrine to him and put some likeness of him in there to stay

Hopefully his popularity will continue to plummet and everything will turn out right

He will lose his reelection bid and this park will not come to light

Once he vacates his office, the charges that were held will now be enforced

He will have to stand for all these charges, he and Melania will probably be divorced

Chances he will be convicted and be sent away for a while

Locked up in those handcuffs and sent to prison right after this trial

So many people will be watching when he finally takes his fall

There he will finally be mounted, probably in the shower stall

I watched the Caronavirus Task Force face the nation just the other day

I sat there in disbelief as Pence uttered all his lies while he was on full display

If you were to believe all the crap he said, you would thank God that you are still alive

And kiss the ass of Donald Trump because he’s the reason that we survive

He sat there with his straight face and spewed the praises of this man

Trying to convince the whole nation that they are doing the best they can

I think Pence truly believes the horse shit that he is trying to sell

The way the Republicans back this leader, it’s sometimes hard to tell

No one since he’s been elected has dared get in his way

They all seem to be backing him up no matter what he has to say

While the Vice President is busy embarrassing himself in front of all the reporters

Donald Trump has more important things that he wants to put in order

He’s more concerned about the confederate soldier statues that are being torn to the ground

This explains why the second in command is there and he’s nowhere to be found

He is more  obsessed with these former slave owners monuments and wants to keep them whole

Rather than trying to keep Americans alive, this is his chosen goal

New legislation to punish these people was his ultimate quest

This way he keeps his bigoted base happy, the hell with all the rest

The world has embraced the “Black Lives Matter” credo and have started to repair and mend

Trump’s preservation of this horrid heritage is what he has chosen to defend

Meanwhile at the press conference, Pence is showing he is as useless as his boss

When he was asked to answer just a few questions, he was at a total loss

Journalists asked him why he wasn’t complying with the advice the doctors had just said?

 Why they choose not to wear a mask and have their rallies inside instead?

He fumbled with his answers citing “freedom of speech” and “elections” was all that he could mutter

Then he continued to go off the rails and begin to quake and sputter

He then gathered up his entourage and out the doors they went

This would be the conclusion of this mockery of an event

So Trump is defending the “Confederates” who lost the Civil War

Still angry at all the protestors and intends to punish them more

He hasn’t come out and said that these Bad Cops deserve what they got

As far as “Black Lives Matter”, he hasn’t given it a second thought

He’s more concerned about his re-election than this virus that’s being spread

Focused more on his second term than the thousands of people that are dead

No Republican has had the guts to try to keep this man in tow

He continues to self destruct everywhere he goes

Five months before the election and how much worse could it get?

Those Republicans who sat by and watched, will they ever have regrets?

People are watching every move you make and the fortitude you lack

If you didn’t worry about Trump this first term, chances are you won’t be back

Tulsa Oklahoma was the place to be

Donald Trump, the man everyone came to see

The venue too small, what about the overflow?

Construction of a stage outside the stadium for all of the fans

Promise to appear before all of them as well, he’s doing the best that he can

Twenty thousand on the inside while another fourty thousand out

Catering to all his adoring base is what “The Donald” is all about

People are pouring into town two days before it’s set to go

With this huge demand for tickets, they all want to attend the show

Imagine sitting in line for fourty eight hours to see this event

I don’t think I would consider this as time that was well spent

A few hours before his performance they start letting people into this place

This is when they first realize that they still have all sorts of space

Seems they overestimated their predictions on the attendance by quite a lot

Hopefully this is an indication that he isn’t as popular as he thought

Mike Pence started the event with a speech from the start

While all the busy workers were taking the outside stage apart

Turns out they didn’t need this venue because there was nobody there

All of his attendees were ushered into the stadium with plenty of space there to share

The grand sum of sixty two hundred people showed up for this day

Trump says it was the “fake news” and the “protestors” that chased them away

So many empty seats of blue surrounding this fraudster

Listening intently to this Presidential imposter

This past couple of weeks is starting to expose the man for what he is really all about

Those that have all backed him must be experiencing some doubt

I hope this is an indication and I hope this is a experience that will repeat

If I had a chance of meeting this man I wouldn’t even consider crossing the street

I ended up wasting some of my time and watched his performance in front of his “base”

He walked back and forth as his continued to lie right to their face

Comments he made about Covid testing, Republicans are trying to pass off as a joke

This isn’t the case, I watched how he maneuvered and I watched how he spoke

Don’t believe for a second this Republican made rumour

You know Donald Trump possesses no sense of humour

Trump backers are falling off this bandwagon that they have been ridin’

Here’s hope they all dust themselves off and vote for Joe Biden

Experts agree that watching too much news can have a bad effect on you

They recommend taking a break as something you should do

My wife and I have certainly put in our time in watching CNN most of our day

This has become part of our routine we practice every day

We both have our tablets and we will play our favourite game

When we scan the channels, the shows we watch are the same

HGTV and DIY networks are the ones we watch the most

Thanks to having the east to west feeds, we can watch them coast to coast

Home Town, My Lottery Dream Home and Property Brothers, just to name a few

We are on a first name basis with Ben, Erin, Dave and of course, Scott and Drew

We aren’t parked in front the set from the morning until night

You’ll find us relaxing on our front porch when the weather’s warm and bright

There is another broadcaster that my wife will often play

Do I admit to watching this? I refuse to say

When we are tired of watching all the news which usually involves Trump and his scandals

That’s when my wife will decide it’s time to tune into the Hallmark Channel

I can honestly say that I haven’t watched any of these movies from the beginning to the end

But I will give you a spoiler alert, all the movies on this station seem to follow the same trend

The main character’s first partner isn’t usually there when the movie is finally done

The one that they end up with is always the second one

If you watch any of them at Christmas, the plot is still the same

They are all basically the same characters, but they just have different names

Before you get to the end of the movie, this couple will have an argument or a major fight

You know the picture is finally over when they kiss and then reunite

You are going to see actors, and wonder where did you see them last?

Chances are it was the last movie you just finished, because they use the same cast

I think all their movies are done all at once in a special space

They just get all their actors to run from place to place

Do their scene, then off to wardrobe to the next one

Continue this for months on end until every film is done

The money they save on location sites alone would pay the actors wages

This could also help them when they have to build new stages

This just sums up any Hallmark movie starting from A to Z

Ask anyone who watches them and I’m sure they will all agree

I myself have given up on all these Hallmark movies because I have found something better to do

I’ve dedicated all my valuable time to watching “Letterkenny”, I just finished season two

The protests are still flourishing and other countries have now joined in

One can only hope that some serious changes will begin

“Black Lives Matter” is a slogan that is being echoed everywhere

Nations the whole world over should now be well aware

Seems like people in high places are now starting to come around

I hope these promises aren’t all empty and they get off the ground

You have to be totally blind not to see the injustice being done

I only wish this cause could be embraced by everyone

We have to be realistic knowing that we will never attain that goal

Thanks to all those bigots and racists who are born without a soul

To them hating minorities is a pleasure that they prefer

Discrimination has been practiced for generations and continues to endure

Ku Klux Klan and White Supremacists are the first groups that come to mind

Participants in these organizations can be hard to find

This side of their lifestyle is not out in full display

They prefer to keep this part of their life hidden anyway

So they hide behind their cloaks and lies and think that no one knows

Being that their race is so superior, how come they refuse to expose?

Racists can be found no matter where you go

Not all of them are enemies, they may be even friends you know

Some when watching these protests may not experience any empathy at all

Others may view the whole proceedings and get that wakeup call

How can people view these murder scenes and not be affected you have to ask?

That’s why this road to equality is such a monumental task

It certainly doesn’t help when you have a man like “Trump” in charge

For the mass majority, he’s the enemy at large

This guy is doing everything to get re-elected in November

As far as all these “hate groups” go, he’s a chartered member

He brought in the manpower to dominate these groups

He’s even using the national guard as his own  private troupe

He had a street cleared of peaceful protestors to show some of his might

These people were pepper sprayed and run over without even putting up a fight

After the crowd was herded out, he headed to that space

He took a bible in his hand and held it in that exact place

A form of intimidation to scare these crowds away

There he stood like a moron and had no words to say

Then they took a picture of white people in front of this parish

This photo op was something that no one in America has chosen to cherish

Yesterday a few words about “George Floyd” were mentioned in the speech he said

He chose to concentrate on the economy instead

He said “George” must be smiling from above because everything is going so well

He only bothered to mention his first name, his last name he chose not to tell

I only hope that when Trump dies, he gets to see his life as we really know

Once again his sight will be obstructed because he will be looking from below

At least twenty five cities issuing curfews on Saturday night.

Trump treating the situation as an election fight

Threatening with numerous weapons and the most vicious dogs that there ever has been

Other than on twitter, he is nowhere to be seen

When the protestors got close to the White House, it must have given him a scare

Reports are that they put him in a bunker for him and his family to share

They should have put him in alone so he could be safe as can be

Lock it up tightly and make sure he’s secure when they turn the key

Then get all of the staff to clear out of the entire space

Then give the protestors directions to his hiding place

But before vacating be sure to slip the key in one of the protestor’s vest

Then leave the premises and let the “stable genius” handle the rest

I would love to see the look on his face once they opened the door

He certainly would be in a position that he has never been in before

He would be in total shock when the group leader would say

Just try to relax because we don’t want to hurt you in any way

We came to tell you how we feel and ask for your help in our cause

Settle all of our grievances and repair all the flaws

Let’s negotiate in faith and fix everything that is wrong

Resolve all of our disputes and finally all get along

They would stay until everyone agreed and then all join in and sing

Trump would lead the chorus as they headed for the west wing

All they discussed would be enacted and put in their place

No fear of prejudice would be experienced by the whole human race

You know you can’t believe this story for one single bit

Donald Trump is a liar, a bigot and so full of shit

He is the one promoting the hatred and division all through this land

Why do so many people find it so hard to understand?

The people who are protesting have a right to be mad as hell

Those of us who have compassion should join in as well

For centuries black people have been targets of hate

Their ancestors were all kidnapped, they didn’t choose their fate

Martin Luther King and Kennedy tried to start the healing but were gunned down for their acts

Six decades have passed and these people are still under attack

Hopefully in a few months, Trump’s reign will be done

The hate will only increase if he has another four year run

People are constantly filming on their phones when they are about

By watching the streams, maybe these bigots will finally figure it out

What we have witnessed should not come as a surprise

Just look at the facts that are in front of your eyes

I’m so sorry so many black people live in fear when they walk on their way

I only hope that Martin Luther King’s dream will come true in my day
