Poem 281: Stop The Cycle

We will be electing a new “Prime Minister” a week from today

Who is going to win it all? It’s hard for me to say

There are a lot of issues and promises being made

Hoping for an undecided voter to be swayed

No matter who comes out on top , you play the cards your dealt

This cycle seems to continue like they are on a conveyor belt

I find that politicians are out of touch with the people they represent

They are more concerned with bickering with the opposition parties and building up resent

Boosting their images by bad mouthing the other sides

It has become the norm and we seem to take it all in stride

No one seems to cooperate with each other to help us common folk

As far as representing all of us it’s become a joke

Even if they pass a bill the bureaucracy slows it down

From the highest form of  government to the smallest of towns

Everything seems to be buried in a pile of red tape

This is a cycle that we cannot seem to escape

So if you wonder why we seldom see any results

Each party is more concerned with delivering their insults

They are fighting among themselves to gain the upper hand

We are the last things considered as far as I can understand

They are making big money for continuing with war and rage

While the rest of us are struggling to make a living wage

This is why the rest of us never seem to gain

You have to be a millionaire to even run a campaign

The rich are getting richer and we’re just here to vote them in

We never seem to prosper no matter who eventually wins

So many people are just getting by and living day to day

Their dreams of owning their own house is now fading away

This is happening to everyone no matter what party you choose to defend

We as Canadians are losing, how do we bring this to an end?

We have to work together and learn to engage

Can we back our chosen candidates on a “go fund me” page?
