Poem 75: Race Is On

Late Saturday night, the news reported that Robert Trump had died

The question that I hate to ask is, do you think that Donald cried?

You see I have never seen an ounce of empathy oozing from this man

Does he actually feel compassion? I don’t think he really can

The only person he has concern for is him and only him alone

This is how he operates, his past history has clearly shown

He doesn’t care what rules he breaks or how many lies he has to say

The only thing that concerns him, is that things must go his way

I don’t know how things will go when his family is forced to reunite

I wouldn’t think that everything will end up going right

I can see Mary having a signed copy of her novel for each one in the clan

With Donald fuming in the corner, obviously not her favourite fan

Is there a possibility that he would try to sneak a look?

I don’t think this would happen, he’s probably never read a book

He said that his late sibling was a friend to him as well

This was probably the only one he had as far as I can tell

Sure he has all his cronies at his beckon call

These men are just as selfish and aren’t really pals at all

I’m wondering if this death is an inconvenience for this man in power

The things that he is trying to incorporate can change from hour to hour

He is handling this pandemic beautifully is what we hear him say

Yet there are still thousands of people dying each and every day

He’s now running his corona briefings as a solo act

The information he’s relating is seldom filled with facts

He’s saying mail in ballots should be stopped because they are fraught with fraud

That Democratic cities are filled with crime and wants to send in his private squad

He tells the mayors that he will clean their cities and it will take less than an hour

He thinks that he is a king and controls all the power

He has his own man he picked at the post office in the driver’s seat

He has him slowing down all the services which should help him from defeat

There is no depth that this man will not go to, to win at any cost

If you have no shred of dignity, you have nothing that could be lost

To be honest, I am going to watch this man at the funeral and when he does appear

I am going to look straight into his eyes and see if he sheds a tear

I am willing to bet he won’t sob in front of any other

I think he could do the eulogy without once mentioning his brother

Because he’s missing his rallies, his tribute could go off the rails

He could make it all political but hopefully decorum will prevail

The road to the November election is going to be quite a ride

Hopefully Biden and Harris will win it all and restore the Country’s pride

Trump is capable of anything and will stop at nothing to occupy this  space

Hopefully when all the votes are finally counted, he ends up in second place
